About the campaign
Sack Boris was launched by the progressive campaign group Common People to let Londoners show their frustration with the failings of Boris Johnson as Mayor of London.
Common People is an independent non-partisan group which campaigns for progressive causes and to elect progressive candidates: www.commonpeople.org.uk
We think sacking Boris is too important to be left to political parties alone. Londoners of all parties and none are carrying our oyster wallets, supporting our work with donations and helping us to campaign on the streets. They are desperate to see the back of a Mayor who was voted in as a joke but turned out not to be funny at all.
The campaign began exactly one year before the 2012 election and Londoners have been able to get Sack Boris Oyster wallets through our website since last summer.
In January 2012, we launched a special edition of 60,000 oyster wallets in partnership with the transport union TSSA. These highlight Boris Johnson's unprecedented 50% hike in bus fares since he was elected in 2008 and the thousands of Londoners who touch in with our Sack Boris Oyster wallets every day are showing just how out of touch they think he is.
